Araghchi in Moscow as Iran Warns US of Consequences

Top News

Moscow: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Moscow on Sunday for urgent talks with Russian officials, as tensions soar following US and Israeli military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. The visit comes on the tenth day of the intensifying Iran-Israel war, marking a critical phase in the unfolding regional crisis.

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Araghchi will consult with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other senior leaders on “regional and international developments following the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.”

The diplomatic trip follows a series of dramatic events over the weekend, including the US-led bombing of three Iranian nuclear sites. President Donald Trump described the operation as a decisive blow, claiming the facilities were “obliterated.”

In response, Iran issued a stark warning to Washington, holding it fully accountable for the fallout from the strikes. “The United States will be solely and fully responsible for the dangerous consequences,” said Araghchi, who also accused Trump of betraying his own supporters by yielding to Israeli interests.

Speaking at an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Araghchi said the strikes crossed a major boundary. “The US crossed a very big red line by attacking Iran’s three nuclear facilities,” he declared.

He urged the United Nations Security Council to take action, describing the attack as “an outrageous, grave and unprecedented violation of the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.”

Condemning both the US and Israel, Araghchi said the strike represented a joint assault on Iran’s sovereignty. “The US military attack on the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of a UN member state carried out in collusion with the genocidal Israeli regime has once again revealed the extent of the United States’ hostility towards the peace-seeking people of Iran.”

He reaffirmed Tehran’s stance on defending its national interests: “The Islamic Republic of Iran continues to defend Iran’s territory, sovereignty, and people by all means necessary against not just US military aggression, but also the reckless and unlawful actions of the Israeli regime.”

Araghchi’s visit to Moscow signals Tehran’s search for stronger international backing amid growing fears of a wider regional conflict. Both Iran and Russia have long-standing strategic ties, particularly in countering Western influence in the Middle East.

As diplomatic efforts unfold, the world watches closely, with concerns that continued escalation could spiral beyond control.
