SOUTH WAZIRISTAN – Two Pakistan Army soldiers, including a major, were martyred and 11 terrorists linked to an Indian proxy network were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Sararogha area of South Waziristan, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Security forces launched the operation following confirmed intelligence about the presence of militants associated with “Fitna al Khwarij,” a term officially used for banned groups like the TTP. During the operation, troops engaged the militants effectively, neutralizing 11 and injuring seven others.

“On June 24, 2025, security forces conducted an IBO in the general area Sararogha, South Waziristan District, on [the] reported presence of Khwarij belonging to Indian Proxy, Fitna-al-Khwarij,” ISPR said in its statement.
In the exchange of fire, Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah (37), a resident of Chakwal, and Lance Naik Jibran Ullah (27), from Bannu, embraced martyrdom. ISPR described Major Moiz as “a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front” and praised his “courage and daring actions in numerous operations conducted against the khwarij.”
The military’s media wing added, “Sanitisation operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored khariji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country, and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve.”
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the fallen heroes, stating:
“Major Syed Moiz Abbas and Lance Naik Jibranullah sacrificed their lives for the secure future of the nation. They are true heroes who thwarted the malicious plans of Indian-backed terrorists and eliminated 11 militants.”
“These martyrs gave their lives to deliver a strong message to the enemy and are a proud example of bravery for the nation. Their heroic sacrifice will always be remembered by the people.”
President Asif Ali Zardari also lauded the courage of the security forces and honored the martyrs, saying:
“The nation will always remember the supreme sacrifices of our brave martyrs.”
He reaffirmed the country’s resolve to continue operations until the complete eradication of terrorism, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty and peace.
The incident marks another chapter in the ongoing fight against terrorism in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where security challenges have increased in recent years.
Authorities confirmed that clearance operations are still underway in Sararogha to eliminate any remaining threats in the region.
