ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has strongly condemned the United States for launching air strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, warning that the move could worsen regional tensions and violates international law.
The condemnation came on Sunday, a day after US President Donald Trump announced that American forces had conducted a “very successful attack” targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. The strikes were carried out amid the ongoing Israel-Iran war, now in its tenth day.
“All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow,” Trump said in a statement on his Truth Social platform, declaring the operation a success and adding, “Now is the time for peace.”
In response, Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a strongly worded statement, expressing deep concern over the escalating conflict.

“These attacks violate all norms of international law. Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself under the UN Charter,” the Foreign Office said.
Terming the situation “deeply disturbing,” the statement warned that the “unprecedented escalation of violence” could have far-reaching implications beyond the Middle East. Islamabad emphasized the importance of protecting civilian lives and infrastructure and urged all sides to respect international humanitarian law.
“Recourse to dialogue and diplomacy in line with the principles of the UN Charter remains the only viable pathway,” it added, calling for an immediate end to the conflict.
The Foreign Office further reiterated its position through a spokesperson: “We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region.”
The statement underscored the “imperative need to respect civilian lives and properties,” noting that continued aggression risked destabilizing not just the region but potentially global peace and security.
The strikes have sparked international concern as fears grow over the potential for a broader war involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
This development comes not long after Pakistan praised Trump’s diplomatic efforts in helping de-escalate a separate military standoff between Islamabad and New Delhi. At the time, Pakistan had stated: “President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi, which de-escalated a rapidly deteriorating situation.”
Now, with Trump taking a direct military role in the Middle East conflict, Islamabad’s tone has shifted sharply, highlighting the fragile state of regional geopolitics and the urgent need for diplomatic resolution.
