Top News

ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an impact-based weather advisory forecasting a mix of rain, windstorms, and heatwaves across different regions of Pakistan between June 13 and 18.

According to the advisory from NDMA’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), cloudy weather, scattered rain, and windstorms are expected from Friday to Monday (June 13–16) in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, the Potohar region, and parts of upper Punjab.

Meanwhile, intense heat will grip most of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, Balochistan, and some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) during the same period, continuing until June 18.

A weak western weather system is forecast to influence the northern parts of the country from June 13 to 16, potentially altering weather patterns across several provinces.

In Punjab, hot and dry conditions will dominate the week.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, temperatures will remain high, though scattered rain and windstorms are likely in several districts including Chitral, Dir, Haripur, Karak, Kohat, Kohistan, Khyber, Kurram, Mansehra, Mohmand, Nowshera, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Hazara, Peshawar, Swabi, Swat, and Waziristan.

The provinces of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain predominantly hot and dry throughout the advisory period.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK, although high temperatures will persist, isolated rain may occur in Astore, Skardu, Hunza, Shighar, Bagh, and Neelum Valley between June 13–16.

NDMA stated: “The public is advised to take precautions and stay updated via the NDMA app, as extreme heat is expected to affect the rest of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), from Friday to Wednesday (13–18 June).”

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with provincial and district administrations to ensure timely alerts and responses.

The public, especially in heat-affected zones, is advised to:

  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoid outdoor activity during peak heat hours (11:00 AM to 4:00 PM)
  • Wear light, breathable clothing
  • Check on vulnerable individuals such as children, elderly people, and those with medical conditions
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles

Tourists and travelers heading to hilly or northern regions are urged to follow local weather updates and safety advisories. The NDMA recommends downloading the “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” app for real-time information and alerts.
